Earlier this week I headed to Manhattan to 1. sign a lease (yay moving!) and 2. too see my best friend! My best friend, her boyfriend, and one of my future roommates decided to take in a movie while I was there and the choice was a very easy one!
If you guys aren't familiar with the movie Pitch Perfect please get off my blog. Just kidding, but seriously though. If you haven't seen it please do! Pitch Perfect introduced the world to the wonders of Skyler Astin. Not only is he incredibly attractive and funny but he can sing. Which is a trait every guy should have! When I found out he was being featured in another movie I decided that it was definitely a movie I will be spending $7 on to see in theater!
And here is where the movie review starts, we decided to see 21 & Over which was very obviously a party movie!
I'm very picky with the movies I decide to pay to see. I'm a big fan of Netflix and torrenting but you didn't hear that last word! Shh! Anyways, I've seen a fair share of party movies in my 20 years and majority of the time they aren't all that great. With the exception of "Project X" I didn't think there would ever be a good party movie!
I went into this movie with a clear head and knowing that I would spend majority of the time just staring at Skyler Astin! Well, this movie was a very very nice surprise! Not only is it insanely hilarious, extremely realistic but it also (gasp) has a plot line! Most party movies are just about some kids going to a party and doing stupid things well this one had a very nice plot line, in my opinion anyways. Miles Teller and Skylar Astin who play the main characters Miller (Teller) and Casey (Astin) have amazing chemistry! I think they protrayed guys in their early 20's to a tee! I saw myself and my friendships being played out with how Teller and Astin acted towards each other!
Justin Chon who protrayed the other main character, Jeff Chang. And believe me, Jeff Chang is a name you will not be forgetting after seeing this movie. Astin and Teller's characters called their friend by his full name almost every time they mention him. Jeff Chang was said at least 100 times during the movie and I think that added to the comedic effect!
If I were to be basing this movie on a 5 star rating I would definitely give it a 5! It's actually on my list of movies to purchase for my personal collection and I'm very picky with the movies I purchase. I only buy movies I absolutely love! This movie is a must see for anyone between the ages of 15 and 30! If you are older than that and love yourself some party movies then by all means check this one out! You won't be disappointed! You see a couple of guys realize they aren't following their dreams and slowly find out they have been crappy friends for the past couple of years. Did I mention you get to see Astin and Teller almost completely naked? Minus a sock on a certain part of the male anatomy! So, ladies that is one big reason to check out this movie!
Happy Friday everyone! :)
