Some People's Stupidity

Being apart of the younger generation, I grew up with music all around me. Now, before I get started with today's post let me start by saying I love all kinds of music! I can appreciate and listen to all different types and that is perfectly fine. I do lean towards a specific type of music but there isn't and will never be a day where I can say that I absolutely hate a certain genre of music. It just won't happen, ever.

I can talk about music every day of the week for hours and hours and hours and never get tired of it. I love music and I work in a profession where music is a big part of my life. Can you imagine why I choose this career path? Ha. Anyways, I do have favorite artists and I can be very opinionated when it comes to them because music is a passion for me and if it's an artist I truly believe in then I will have opinions on. I do have a very, very long list of favorite artists all ranging in different genres. There is one specific band that tops that list and I will fight for them until the death. I won't get into specifics why they are on top of my list or why they have stayed there since I found out about them because that's one long story we don't wanna get into.

My favorite band is Paramore. I found out about them in 2004, which would have been my freshman year in high school (jeeze, I'm getting old). Since then they have remained my favorite band for many reasons but that isn't what this post is about. They will be releasing their 4th album in April, which I couldn't be more excited for since they haven't released an album since 2009. They did grace our ears with a few songs in 2011 and 2012 but nothing super big. Their debut single from their upcoming album is entitled "Now".

To give you a little back information about the band, when Paramore started out in 2004 it had 5 members. Hayley Williams being the front woman and singer, Josh Farro is lead guitar, Jeremy Davis is slappin' the bass, Zac Farro is the very young drummer, and Taylor York coming in last with back up guitar. After their 3rd full length album release Josh and Zac Farro (brothers) decided to leave the band which was devastating to many people including the remaining three members. There were questions on whether the band would continue on with out the Farro brothers and I knew deep in my heart that they would. Hayley is too strong willed to just up and quit and the brothers leaving is one of the main reasons it took them so long to come out with a 4th album.

Now for the important part, Paramore released a 2nd single from their upcoming album entitled "Still Into You". Their first single is very different then what they have done in the past but I was prepared for that because I kept up with the band during the writing and production process of the album and they did mention multiple times that this album will be different for them but still really good. When I listened to "Still Into You" yesterday I was a little shocked and wasn't sure how I felt about the song. It's really different for them but the more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it! I was watching the lyric video for the song and decided to read some comments and wow, did I make a bad decision. People were being brutal and saying that they hated the new song and that losing the two members was horrible for them and they should have just quit

After reading all those comments I can't explain how infuriated I was. How do these people not expect them to change? It's been 3 years since they've released something, of course they were going to change! Yes, losing the Farro brothers was hard and probably did have some of an impact on what they wrote for this record but that doesn't mean they should quit! I don't think people realize that artists or people in bands are human beings. They make mistakes and grow up and change just like we do. How do you NOT expect them to change? They are all older now and feel and do different things and I just don't think it's fair of people to judge them for that.

That's all I'm going to say because I'm starting to get angry again so here is what I will leave you with. I've posted the videos below for Paramore's very first single ever entitled "Pressure" and their most recent single "Still Into You".

How do you feel about your favorite artist? Do you feel as strongly as I do when it comes to music? Also, do you think it's wrong of an artist/band to change how their music sounds as they grow as people?

It's Friday! Have a good weekend all! :)
